Why develop AI competencies?

Access to a tool is only a starting point. Effective use requires understanding its capabilities and limitations, protecting information and checking outputs before decisions. The programmes develop independent judgement and accountable human oversight.

AI in plain terms

Generative AI
Systems that create text, images or audio using patterns learned from data. Generated content still needs verification.
Automation
A defined sequence of actions triggered by an event. AI can support one step while people approve consequential actions.
AI agent
A system that plans and performs connected steps using authorised tools. Its autonomy and access need to be bounded by the task.
AI governance
Roles, policies and controls defining accountability, permitted data use and how the effects of AI are assessed.

Combining competencies in practice

The overarching AI credential combines broad foundations, two specialisations and an independent project.

ProSentinel Certified AI Professional

  1. Successful assessments at Levels I–III of AI Foundations and Literacy.
  2. Successful assessments at Levels I–III of two distinct additional specialisations: at least nine level assessments in total.
  3. Current Level III certification in all three required tracks.
  4. An interdisciplinary final project, a successful defence and a separate certification decision.

Validity: 36 months. Renewal requires 30 documented development hours, current Level III credentials in the three required tracks and a renewed interdisciplinary project assessment. After expiry, candidates must meet the requirements again and pass the full final assessment.

The knowledge test requires at least 80%. Practical assessment requires all specified competencies; breaches of safety or independent-work rules prevent a pass. Attendance alone does not confer certification.

Certification is valid for 36 months. Renew a level through a current assessment of its competencies; renew a specialisation through a Level III assessment covering the whole track. Academy rules on retakes, appeals and an independent certification decision apply.

This is ProSentinel Academy’s own competency certification system. It is not a state or regulated qualification, an academic degree or an ISO certificate.

Automated online verification is not yet live. Document confirmation is arranged directly with its holder.

Questions before choosing a programme

Do I need technical knowledge?

Not at foundation levels. Applied tracks require basic AI competence; Levels II and III require the previous level’s competencies or equivalent experience.

Is this only about ChatGPT?

No. Learn to work with different classes of systems, assess their limitations and choose tools for a task. Selection depends on objectives, data and organisational rules.

Will I need to programme?

Foundation programmes do not require programming. Higher levels introduce technical elements such as integrations, APIs and structured data. Requirements are agreed before enrolment.

Does the programme lead to a certificate?

A competency credential requires eligibility, successful assessment and a positive certification decision. Attendance is recorded separately through a completion document. Assessment format and dates are agreed before enrolment.

Can you deliver a programme for a company?

Yes. Tracks can be selected for organisational roles, processes, preparation and risk. A company programme can cover needs assessment, training, verification and a development plan.

Is funding available?

Co-funding depends on the scheme, region, business size and status, participants, open calls and available funds. PRO-INVEST AG helps check the conditions; eligibility must be confirmed for each service.

Will I receive an ISO certificate?

No. A ProSentinel credential confirms assessed competencies under the Academy’s own scheme. Reference to ISO/IEC 42001 or ISO/IEC 23894 does not imply ISO certification or accreditation.

Does training guarantee AI Act compliance?

Training develops staff competencies and helps organise AI use. It does not guarantee legal compliance or replace an assessment of the organisation’s obligations or legal advice.
